The JustH2Transition consortium project is a research initiative whose goal is to support the transition to a hydrogen-based economy in Finland. The project is financed by the Strategic Research Council and is part of the Energy Solutions as Part of a Just Green Transition, JUST ENERGY, program. University of Oulu, LUT University, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Natural Resources Institute Finland LUKE and Akordi belong to the consortium.
The project focuses on three key areas:
- Energy production: The project explores how hydrogen can be produced from renewable energy sources efficiently and sustainably.
- Social impacts: The project examines the social and economic impacts of the hydrogen transition, including its effects on employment, climate change and equity.
- Systemic and technological bottlenecks: The project identifies and deals with systemic and technological challenges that hinder the introduction of hydrogen technologies.
The JustH2Transition consortium consists of leading experts in hydrogen research and innovation from Finland. The project also collaborates with national and European organizations that work to support the hydrogen transition.
The JustH2Transition project is expected to produce a number of valuable results, such as:
- – A comprehensive overview of the hydrogen transition from the perspective of energy production, societal impacts, and systemic and technological bottlenecks.
- – Recommendations for policy makers on how to support a fair and sustainable transition to a hydrogen-based economy.
- – Science-based information that supports the development of new hydrogen technologies and their introduction in industry.
- – Awareness and acceptance of the transition to hydrogen by the general public.
Akordi acts as the project’s interaction manager. Akordi’s work package is headed by Minna Näsman.
