Juha Kotilainen

I am a Specialist and Associate at Akordi, where I have been part of the team since 2017. My academic background is in the collaborative governance of natural resources, which was also the focus of my doctoral dissertation, Emerging Forms of Collaborative Mineral Governance, completed in 2024. In my dissertation, I examined collaborative instruments and tools for addressing multi-stakeholder challenges through local negotiation.

At Akordi, I work on themes such as mining, reconciling interests, joint management of environmental impacts, and biodiversity offsetting. I take on various roles, including those of a neutral expert, facilitator, and interaction coordinator. In addition to my work at Akordi, I am a part-time postdoctoral researcher at the University of Eastern Finland, where my research focuses on topics such as the circular economy of critical raw materials and collaborative governance in the context of the green transition.
