Association of Finnish Work
Akordi Oy, which operates nationwide, has been granted the right to use the Finnish Social Enterprise Mark. Akordi specializes in assisting, as a neutral party, in decision-making concerning urban planning, energy production, and the use of natural resources, among other things.
Social enterprises can operate in any industry, regardless of their legal form. The Social Enterprise mark granted by the Association of Finnish Work helps to reliably identify these companies. The Social Enterprise mark can be awarded to a company that was established to promote social good and that uses most of its profits to solve social or environmental problems. It is also important to demonstrate the social impact of the business and to operate transparently.
“Akordi in Finnish means a harmony formed by several voices together. In our view, collaboration between multiple parties can only succeed if each party finds their own voice and makes it heard. Our goal is not to achieve ‘unison’, where everyone agrees, but to bring out and harmonise different voices, says Akordi’s CEO Jonna Kangasoja.
Akordi is Finland’s first company to offer services for resolving environmental disputes, mainly through proactive planning and facilitating high-quality participation and negotiation processes. The field that Akordi has brought to Finland is known in English as Environmental Collaboration and Conflict Resolution, as well as Public Policy Mediation. Akordi continuously collaborates and exchanges experiences with leading international actors in the field.
“Companies that have been awarded the Social Enterprise mark operate in many different fields and build society through good values. Akordi is a great example of a modern industry and a company that does good,” says Brand Manager Niina Ollikka from the Association of Finnish Work.
